The Energy of Money

The way you do money is the way you do everything.

The Energy of Money is Maria Nemeth's psycho-spiritual framework for transforming your relationship with money from the inside out. Rather than prescribing budgets or debt payoff plans, it guides you through excavating inherited money beliefs, naming and disarming your inner financial saboteur (Monkey Mind), and aligning your financial decisions with your Six Standards of Integrity. It's for people who know the right financial steps but keep getting in their own way.

The gap

Money is energy — stop letting old beliefs and Monkey Mind control how yours flows

The Energy of Money treats money as a form of energy that flows freely when aligned with your intentions — or gets blocked by fear, inherited beliefs, and self-sabotage. Nemeth's method begins with a Money Autobiography: structured exercises to excavate early money memories and family patterns that silently script adult financial behavior. Users then confront their 'Monkey Mind' — her named concept for the inner critic that generates avoidance, catastrophizing, and irrational financial decisions. The diagnostic center of the framework is the Six Standards of Integrity audit, which assesses energy levels across six life areas (Money, Time, Physical Vitality, Enjoyment/Play, Creative Expression, and Relationships) to surface hidden drains and misalignments. From there, users clarify the Dreams vs. Goals distinction — separating big-picture life visions from concrete, measurable actions — before mapping financial goals back to their Standards. Nemeth's core claim: you cannot fix financial behavior without first understanding the beliefs and energy patterns driving it.

The problem

Most financial advice assumes that knowing the right steps is sufficient. But people who self-sabotage — who budget and blow the budget, who earn more and spend more, who feel perpetually behind despite doing everything 'right' — are not lacking information. They are running on invisible money beliefs, inherited family scripts, and a Monkey Mind that overrides every good intention. Nemeth's framework names this gap precisely: the problem is not the plan, it's the energy and belief system behind the plan.

The solution

Uncover the hidden money beliefs and Monkey Mind patterns that are blocking your financial intentions — then align your goals with what genuinely matters to you across all six areas of your life.

You bring
  • Your current financial frustrations, stuck patterns, or behaviors you can't seem to change
  • Memories or feelings about how money was handled in your family growing up
  • The financial goal or life vision you're working toward
  • Honest responses to Nemeth's guided reflection prompts
You get
  • A written Money Autobiography naming the inherited beliefs driving your current behavior
  • A Monkey Mind Log: your specific self-sabotage patterns, named, triggered, and reframed
  • A Six Standards Alignment Map showing exactly where your energy is leaking
  • A Dream Statement with concrete, integrity-aligned financial goals attached

Without the skill

You earn a reasonable income but every month feels like a scramble. You've set up a budget three times and abandoned it each time. You avoid opening your banking app for days at a stretch. You know you 'should' be saving more, but something always gets in the way — an unexpected expense, a bad week, a decision you can't quite explain afterward. You suspect the problem isn't the numbers.

With The Energy of Money

You've written out the money beliefs you inherited from your family — and you can now see which ones were never yours to carry. Your Monkey Mind script is named; it still shows up, but it no longer makes your financial decisions. Your Six Standards Alignment Map reveals that the real energy drain was zero Enjoyment, which you were unconsciously medicating with spending. You have a Dream Statement and three integrity-aligned goals beneath it. For the first time, your financial plan reflects what you actually want your life to look like.

The same situation once the methodology holds.

The Energy of Money
Welcome. The Energy of Money starts with a premise most financial advice skips: the way you do money is the way you do everything. Before we look at numbers, let's look at the story underneath them. Can you tell me about the first time you remember money feeling like a problem — or something to be afraid of?
I remember my parents fighting about bills when I was maybe 8 or 9. There was never enough, and it always felt like a crisis. Now I have a decent income but I still feel that same dread every time I open my bank account.
That's a foundational Money Autobiography entry. Your nervous system learned early that money equals crisis, scarcity, and conflict. That script doesn't automatically update when your income does. What you're describing sounds like what Nemeth calls an inherited money belief — something like 'there is never enough.' Does that phrase land for you? And do you notice yourself acting as if it's true today, even when your balance says otherwise?
Yes, completely. I'll have a good month and instead of relief I just wait for something to go wrong. I also avoid looking at my finances for days at a time — like if I don't look, it can't be bad.
That avoidance is Monkey Mind in action. Nemeth defines Monkey Mind as the inner voice that generates fearful, irrational responses to money — and avoidance is one of its favorite strategies. It says: 'Don't look, because what you'll find will be terrible.' The problem is, Monkey Mind's avoidance makes the thing it's afraid of more likely. Let's name your specific pattern precisely: what does the Monkey Mind voice actually say, in your own words, when you're about to open your banking app?
Something like 'you've probably messed up somewhere' or 'you'll see something you can't fix.'
Good — now it's named. Those two phrases are your specific Monkey Mind script around money. Naming them is step one of Nemeth's reframe process. Here is the key move: Monkey Mind is not your wisdom. It is a fear response, not a forecast. The practice is not to silence it but to say: 'I hear you. And I'm going to look anyway.' Now I want to zoom out. Nemeth uses the Six Standards of Integrity — Money, Time, Physical Vitality, Enjoyment/Play, Creative Expression, and Relationships — to find where energy is really leaking. On a scale of 1–10, how much energy do you currently have in each area?
Money: 3. Time: 4 — always rushed. Physical: 5. Enjoyment: 2, I basically never do anything just for fun. Creative: 4. Relationships: 7, that's actually okay.
Look at this map: Money and Enjoyment are both at the bottom — and they are connected. When Enjoyment is depleted, many people unconsciously spend to compensate, which drains Money further, which increases anxiety, which kills Enjoyment. Nemeth calls this a Standards misalignment loop. The real intervention here isn't a stricter budget. It's restoring Enjoyment through non-financial means so the compensatory spending pressure drops. You have just completed a Six Standards Integrity Audit — and it's already showing you something a spreadsheet never would.

Capabilities

What it does, specifically.

Each capability is a distinct move drawn straight from the source methodology — not a generic assistant guessing.

CapabilityC-01

Money Autobiography

Guided prompts help you excavate your earliest money memories, your family's spoken and unspoken money rules, and the beliefs those experiences installed. Most people have never articulated these stories; once named on paper, they lose much of their power over financial behavior.

Directly encodes Nemeth's Money Autobiography exercises from The Energy of Money workbook, designed to surface the inherited 'money scripts' that silently drive adult financial decisions.
CapabilityC-02

Monkey Mind Identification & Reframe

You'll identify the specific fearful, avoidant, or catastrophizing thoughts your Monkey Mind generates around money — and apply Nemeth's counter-techniques to reduce their grip. The goal is not to silence Monkey Mind but to recognize it and stop letting it make your financial decisions.

Based on Nemeth's named 'Monkey Mind' concept: the inner saboteur she distinguishes from genuine intuition, with specific workbook exercises for recognition, naming, and reframe.
CapabilityC-03

Six Standards of Integrity Audit

You assess your current energy level in each of the six life areas Nemeth identifies as essential: Money, Time, Physical Vitality, Enjoyment/Play, Creative Expression, and Relationships. The audit surfaces where energy is being drained — and why financial decisions made in isolation so often fail to stick.

Based on Nemeth's Six Standards of Integrity model, the core diagnostic tool of her framework, which holds that sustainable financial change requires alignment across all six life areas, not just the Money standard.
CapabilityC-04

Dream vs. Goal Clarification

Many people confuse a dream (a vivid, values-rooted life vision) with a goal (a specific, measurable action). This session helps you articulate your Dream Statement first — then derive concrete goals from it — so financial targets feel meaningful rather than externally imposed.

Based on Nemeth's explicit Dreams vs. Goals distinction, a foundational move in her framework that prevents the common failure of setting goals disconnected from deeper life intentions.
CapabilityC-05

Energy Drains & Tolerations Catalogue

You'll inventory the financial and life situations you are currently tolerating — expenses you resent, commitments that drain you, obligations you never consciously chose. Naming and prioritizing these 'tolerations' frees up energy for what genuinely matters.

Draws on Nemeth's 'energy drains vs. sources' framework and her concept of tolerations: things accepted without examination that silently deplete financial and life vitality across the Six Standards.
CapabilityC-06

Sufficiency Clarity Exercise

One of Nemeth's most incisive prompts: 'What would it mean to have enough?' This exercise pushes past the vague desire for 'more' and forces specificity about what genuine sufficiency actually looks like across spending, saving, and life satisfaction.

Directly adapts Nemeth's 'What is enough?' clarity exercise from her workbook — a structured prompt designed to break the scarcity treadmill by defining sufficiency in concrete, personal terms.
